I’ve been fascinated by the materials drummers and percussionists use everyday, studying how they are made, what they are made of and how they might be manufactured and distributed.

I stumbled upon these videos which I found to be far more interesting than I’d given earlier credit for.

I am still as an adult struggling to comprehend the physical make-up of matter itself on the molecular and sub-atomic levels, let alone how sound works and how materials, environment and listening apparatus shape and characterise the perceived sound qualities of what are fundamentally wave-like disturbances of air molecules at varying degrees of vibrational size, length and compression.

Perhaps I will dedicated a page on this website specifically categorised for manufacturing processes of instruments, and a seperate one regarding the science of sound.
